Movies for Thursday April 29, 2010

April 29th is "International Dance Day" which was created to increase the awareness of the importance of dance among the general public. With Dance Day in mind, the theme for today will be films about dancing-enjoy!

Documentary, which follows a number of kids from different schools in New York City throughout their ballroom dance competitions-inspiring film...

3 Swing Time (1936) Director George Stevens
Musical about a gambler (Fred Astaire) who moves to New York City and ends up in a romantic entanglement; won an Oscar for best music and nominated for Best Dance Direction...

4 Shall We Dance (1996) Director Masayuki Suo
A Tokyo office worker (Koji Yakusho) signs up for ballroom dancing to meet the beautiful dance instructor (Tamiyo Kusakari) and ends up finding a new life for himself...

5 Footloose (1984) Director Herbert Ross
80's film about a city boy who moves to a small town and brings dance to the townspeople-strictly for those who like '80's fare...
