Movies for Monday March 15, 2010

On March 15 1945 the 17th Academy Awards were held at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles California. With the 1945 Academy Awards in mind, the theme for today will be movies that won for that year-enjoy!

1 Going My Way (1944) Director Leo McCary
Academy Award winning film that tells the story of a man (Bing Crosby) who decides to join the clergy-Crosby won an Oscar for his performance...

2 Gaslight (1944) Director George Cukor
Engrossing film about a man (Charles Boyer) who attempts to drive his new wife insane (Ingrid Bergman) in order to steal a family fortune-Bergman is great as the tortured wife, which garnered her an Oscar for her performance...

3 None But the Lonely Heart (1944) Director Clifford Odets
Story of man (Cary Grant) forced to return home to look after his sickly mother (Ethel Barrymore)-Barrymore won an Academy Award for her portrayal as matriarch...

As I have seen only one film from the above list (Gaslight) I look forward to your feedback... enjoy!
