On February 3, 1959 a plane crash near Clear Lake Iowa kills musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson) known as "The Day The Music Died". To commemorate this day in history... the theme for today will be movies about the musicians mentioned... enjoy!
1 The Buddy Holly Story (1978) Director Steve Rash
Highly entertaining film about the life of Buddy Holly... great performance by Gary Busey as Holly which he received an Oscar Nomination for.
2 La Bamba (1987) Director Luis Valdez
Interesting film that tells the life story of Ritchie Valens-role gave Lou Diamond Phillips his first big break in the movie industry for his portrayal...
3 The Real Buddy Holly Story (1987) Director Richard Spense
Documentary hosted by Paul Mc Cartney which tells a more true to life story of Buddy Holly based on interviews with family, band members and friends, and includes early concert footage...
As I have seen all but one film (The Real Buddy Holly Story) I look forward to your feedback... enjoy!

And don't forget...
ReplyDeleteWalk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story (2007) Director Jake Kasdan (Written by Judd Apatow & Jake Kasdan).
Featuring "Mr. Show's" John Ennis as The Big Bopper and "Malcolm in the Middle"'s Frankie Muniz as Buddy Holly!
Thank you for mentioning Walk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story-it is a great parody film, and Elvis parody is also very funny...
